Privacy Policy

LRN Your Way ("we," "us," or "our") cares deeply about the privacy of the learners, parents, and educators who use our website, our mobile dictionary app and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a unique identifier from your chosen sign-in provider (Google, Apple, or email and password). If you subscribe to Our Premium Service, we will collect your billing information.
• Profile content. A profile photo, if you choose to set one.
• Support messages. The contents of any email or message you send us when you ask for help or give feedback.
• Content. Any "Content" that you upload, as defined in the Terms and Conditions.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data. Words you look up, features you tap, and timestamps — used to operate the app, measure popular entries, and fix bugs.
• Device and technical data. Device model, OS version, app version, rough IP-based location (country and region only), and crash reports.
• Cookies and similar technologies. We use a secure, HTTP-only session cookie (or token) to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not embed third-party advertising trackers in the app.
• Billing Information. Your credit or debit card information, card information, transaction details, form of payment, payment confirmation and other payment details, as well as the details of the Premium Service you have selected.

Information we do not collect

• Precise geolocation.
• Contacts, SMS, photo library contents, or microphone input.
• Data from third-party advertising networks.

2. How we use information

• To let you sign in and keep your account secure.
• To process your payments.
• To show you dictionary entries and remember your preferences (e.g., recent lookups).
• To fix bugs, monitor performance, and improve the Service.
• To communicate with you about the Service — account notifications, policy updates, and responses to your support requests.
• To comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not use your information to show you third-party ads. We do not sell your information, and we do not "share" it within the meaning of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).

3. Children's privacy

LRN Your Way is designed for learners, including children. We design the Service to collect only what is reasonably necessary to operate it.

If you are the parent or legal guardian of a child under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country) and believe your child has provided personal information to us without your consent, please contact support@lrnyourway.com. We will review the account, remove the information, and delete the account where required by law.

When LRN Your Way is deployed through a school, the school acts as the agent of the parent for purposes of providing consent under COPPA for school-related educational purposes. Schools should ensure their use of LRN Your Way complies with applicable education and privacy laws.

4. How we share information

We share information only in these narrow circumstances:

• Service providers. We use trusted vendors to run our infrastructure, including billing. Current processors include:
  • Google Cloud Platform — application hosting and storage.
  • MongoDB Atlas — database hosting.
  • Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In — authentication providers you choose to use.
  These providers process data on our behalf under contracts that limit their use of that data.
• Legal obligations. If we receive a valid legal request, we may disclose information to the extent required by law.
• Business transfers. If LRN Your Way is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that deal. The acquirer will be bound by this Privacy Policy or will give you notice before any materially different use.

5. Data retention

We keep account information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Usage and crash logs are typically retained for up to 12 months. You can request deletion at any time (see Your rights).

6. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for our databases, principle-of-least-privilege access controls, and routine monitoring. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee "perfect security." In addition, any information you send to us may not be secure in transit; we recommend that you do not use unsecure channels to communicate with the Service. If we ever learn of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you as required by law.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct information that is inaccurate.
• Delete your account and associated personal information.
• Export your information in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Object to, or restrict, certain processing.
• Withdraw any consent you previously gave.
• Manage communication preferences.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@lrnyourway.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law — typically 30 days. We won't discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

8. International users

We operate primarily in the United States, and your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your country. When we transfer personal data out of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses. If you are accessing the Services from a country other than the United States, you do so at your own risk and you are solely responsible for compliance with all local laws, rules and regulations. By using or accessing the Services from outside the United States, you consent to the transfer of information to the United States, which may provide a different level of security than your country of residence. By using the Services, you waive any claim that may arise under the laws of any country other than the United States.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. When we make material changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top and give you reasonable notice — in-app, by email, or by a banner on the website — before the changes take effect.
